START Market’s Continuous Trading

From September 1, 2023, shares on the START market will be traded in continuous mode and without restrictions on the minimum number of pieces.

From September 1, 2023, all issues from the START market will be transferred to the continuous trading regime, i.e. they will be traded in the same way as stock issues from other markets of the Prague Stock Exchange (PRIME, STANDARD, and FREE).

At the same time, from September 1, 2023, the minimum order size will change for all issues of the START market. Currently, each issuer has their individual lot, i.e. the size of the minimum order, set. With the transition to continuous trading, however, the minimum order size will change to 1 piece for all issuers on the START market.

“It’s a step we’ve been debating for a long time. In the end, we responded to the demand from traders and members of the stock exchange who prefer continuous trading, especially for clarity for clients. We, therefore, expect greater transparency and clarity for investors from continuous trading,” says the CEO of the Prague Stock Exchange, Petr Koblic.

A detailed description of continuous trading is provided in the Exchange Rules – Part III. Separate auction and continuous trading, especially articles 5.2.1, 6.2, 7.3, and 7.4.
