Unlocking full pontential of feldspar

Feldspar, a highly versatile mineral abundant in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, plays a pivotal role in various industries.

Its intricate chemical composition, enriched with elements such as Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Li, and Be, underscores its broad industrial applications, notably in ceramics and glassmaking. Acting as a fluxing agent, feldspar facilitates the melting process in ceramic glazes and glass production, enhancing manufacturing efficiency.

Mined globally through conventional methods like open-pit or underground mining, feldspar undergoes processing to eliminate impurities and refine its composition for industrial utilization.

 

In our recent analysis of feldspar samples, we utilized LIBS technology to uncover its elemental composition. Essential elements such as Si, Al, Fe, Ti, Ca, P, Mg, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Sr, Nb, W and Mn were identified. Furthermore, the detection of elements in very low concentrations like Li and Be, which conventional XRF-WDS methods overlook, marked a significant breakthrough. This achievement empowers us to pursue further testing, including semi-quantitative or fully standardized quantitative analysis.

By detecting elements in low concentrations such as Li and Be, LIBS not only delivers more precise, but also quicker outcomes compared to conventional methods like XRF-WDS. Through the utilization of LIBS technology, we can advance with innovative solutions, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future.
