Exploring LIBS Precision Under Different Atmospheres

In our ongoing pursuit of excellence, we often find that even small details can spark significant insights. Recently, as part of training new talents at our company, we conducted a comparison of measurements under different atmospheres – at atmospheric pressure, in a vacuum, and in argon.

The results, summarized in the table below, offer valuable insights into the adaptability and precision of LIBS measurements in diverse environments. Measurements in an argon or vacuum atmosphere are roughly four times more stable than measurements in an ambient atmosphere. Additionally, measurements in an argon-filled chamber are slightly more stable than in a vacuum.
