Expanding the Scope of Alloy Analysis: LIBS for Alternative Alloy

As industries increasingly turn to innovative materials to meet the demands of modern applications, the need for precise and efficient analysis of alternative alloys has never been greater. Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) stands out as a transformative tool, offering rapid, micro-destructive, and highly versatile elemental analysis. Direct analysis of metallic materials is no new thing for us. This time, in collaboration with VŠB-TUO within the framework of the MATUR project, we were tasked with analyzing alloys based on a dual system of nickel and lanthanum. Besides that, we also performed measurements of pure nickel and lanthanum. Using our Sci-Trace LIBS instrument, we conducted a detailed assessment, focusing on quick semi-quantification of these elements. As shown in the pictures below, we were able to easily detect signals of Ni and La as well as semiquantify their presence in the measured samples.
