Breaking Limits in Chemical Composition Analysis with LIBS
In the ever-evolving field of material analysis, LIBS is redefining the way we examine chemical compositions. This innovative technology provides rapid, accurate, and microdestructive elemental analysis, offering a competitive edge over conventional methods. Our recent research has reinforced LIBS as a reliable alternative to traditional X-ray fluorescence techniques (XRF, WDX), demonstrating its exceptional performance even in complex matrices.
AtomTrace’s LIBS solution stands out for its ability to detect a wide range of elements quickly and efficiently, making it a game-changer in applications requiring real-time data acquisition. In our study, we analyzed samples with elemental compositions previously determined by XRF (WDX). The results matched precisely for key elements such as Na, K, Rb, Si, Ti, and Mg. For Al, Fe, Ca, and P, the correlation was remarkably close, underscoring Sci-Trace high accuracy, even with complex materials.
Building upon these promising results, we expanded our research to a set of samples with varying chemical compositions. Each of these samples had known element concentrations obtained through XRF, which we used as a benchmark. By plotting these concentrations against LIBS-measured signals, we established strong linear correlations for multiple elements, including Ca, Al, Na, K, Mg, Sr, and Be. The significance of this finding cannot be overstated—complex sample matrices often disrupt calibration linearity, yet our solution maintained an impressive level of precision across a broad range of concentrations.
One of the most remarkable advantages of AtomTrace’s technology is its ability to handle intricate sample matrices without compromising accuracy. Traditional methods often struggle with high concentration ranges, as sensitivity tends to diminish at elevated levels. Despite these challenges, LIBS consistently delivered precise, linear responses, reinforcing its suitability for analyzing even the most complex materials.

Our findings confirm that our technology is not just a viable alternative to traditional methods—it is a superior choice for rapid, high-precision elemental analysis. By delivering real-time insights with minimal sample preparation, LIBS is revolutionizing chemical analysis in both industrial and scientific settings. As the demand for faster, more accurate material characterization grows, AtomTrace is poised to lead the way, setting new standards for elemental analysis across multiple disciplines.
